Drawn with the sketchbook inverted. Three alternatives are shown, with the construction of the joists and the glazing. On the recto ( D07047; Turner Bequest CV 44) are views of two of these as seen from inside the gallery. These plans are to be associated with Turner’s plans for his own gallery, along with other drawings and diagrams in the sketchbook; see Introduction for Turner’s new gallery behind his house in Queen Anne Street West, opened in 1822.
