Drawn with the sketchbook inverted, the view of Waterloo Bridge continues on folio 28 verso (D07095; Turner Bequest 72a). Somerset House is seen on the left, and in the river in the foreground is a large buoy which is also drawn in a detail above. Turner has transcribed a warning notice to bargemen, one of whom is seen at left. See Introduction for plans in the mid 1820s for a series of London subjects, including London Bridge, the Custom House and the Tower.
