Henry Crawford and later Wallace-Hadrill and Carolan wrote that this view of Castle Rock with Stirling Castle is seen from east of Cambuskenneth.1 However, the large hill at the left foreground suggests that the view is more likely to be from just west of Abbey Craig to the north-east of the castle. There are further views from around Abbey Craig on folios 12 verso–14 (D26458–D26462). At the bottom of the page is a view west from Abbey Craig towards Ben Lomond.
