Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
David Wallace-Hadrill and Janet Carolan suggest that this sketch may be of a view north up Loch Linnhe towards the Corran Narrows.1 If so, it is the only sketch that Turner made between Ballachulish (where he disembarked from a boat taking him up the Loch from Oban to visit Glencoe) and Fort William (see folio 8 verso; D26760 for references).
