This sketch was made from the promontory at the south-east of the island of Kerrera, and depicts the view looking north along the rocky headland, with the anchorage of Port a’ Chroinn to the left and Gylen Castle standing on a crag beyond it. This is one of twenty-five sketches of Gylen Castle (folios 63 verso–75 verso; D26865–D26889) which Turner made on his visit to Kerrera on his way to the Isle of Mull.
