For Cockermouth Castle and Turner’s views in this sketchbook see Introduction. Finberg is surely wrong in stating that this view is from the River Cocker. It must be from near the Derwent, and taken from within the clump of trees seen on the right in folio 17 (D07556). Compare also folio 20 (D07560).
