These sketches belong to a series of coastal views across folios 70 verso–77 verso (D26228–D26242) that were made on Turner’s return journey from Edinburgh to London by sea. The three sketches depict a headland from both sides. Considering the sketches of Flamborough Head on folio 71 (D26229), it is possible that this headland is Spurn Head.
There is a small brown stain at the top left corner of the page.
