The hamlet of St Michael Penkivel and the adjacent Tregothnan Park, apparently indicate by Turner’s inscriptions, stand above the east bank of the Truro River north of its confluence with the Fal. The viewpoint has not been established but is presumably in their neighbourhood, of which the scenery shown here is characteristic. There is what seems to be another view on the Truro or the Fal on folio 129 verso (D08608; CXXIII 126a).
There is a separate sketch of a coast or river bank with a tower or spire at the top right.
