The mount is seen from the rocky shore, looking south-west across the causeway from Marazion, accessible only at low tide. The island’s harbour and associated buildings cluster below the castle. William Daniell’s 1825 aquatint for his Voyage Round Great Britain shows a similar view (Tate impression: T03022). Turner also made views of the mount from the causeway itself on folios 40 verso and 43 verso–44 recto (D08925, D08933, D08934; CXXV 39a), and there is another sketch from the coast a little to the south-east on folio 42 verso (D08929; CXXV 41a).
