This swift outline sketch represents a view of Naples from the sea to the east. Visible in the centre of the shoreline is the headland of Castel dell’Ovo (Castle of the Egg) and the hill of Pizzofalcone, rising to the Certosa di San Martino and the Castel Sant’Elmo on the heights above to the right. The composition continues on the opposite sheet of the double-page spread, see folio 9 (D15924).
