Beyond Lakes Albano and Nemi, Turner’s route to Naples turned south towards Velletri. As his inscriptions suggest, the swift sketches on this page represent views from the Via Appia between Lake Nemi and Velletri. The distant line of mountains is the Monti Lepini.
