The inside front cover contains a very slight sketch of a reclining figure. Turner has also used the page for a number of written notes in pencil. Parallel with the left-hand edge is an inscription reading ‘Frantz. Piazza del [?Largo] | 4 [?D...] National. Florence [...]’, whilst inverted at the bottom is a second text, ‘Claude 35 [?first] | Beaumont 45 | Carr 38 | Allen 68 | 72’.1
