Turner devoted a considerable number of sketches to the Roman Bridge of Augustus (Ponte d’Augusto) at Narni, one of the most famous landmarks in Umbria, see folio 61 verso (D14772). This sketch depicts the two northernmost supporting piers of the ruined bridge. It is a continuation of the view on the previous double-page spread, see folio 62 (D14773). Turner has folded back the preceding sheet in order to complete the length of the bridge on the underlying page.
