This page contains a very faint outline sketch of the Temple of Castor and Pollux in the Roman Forum in relation to the surrounding monuments. Turner’s viewpoint is in front of the three columns of the temple looking towards the east end of the Forum. In the background, from left to right are the Church of San Lorenzo in Miranda (which incorporates the Temple of Faustina and Antoninus), the Basilica of Constantine and Maxentius and the bell-tower of Santa Francesca Romana. On the far right is part of the exterior of the Church of Santa Maria Liberatrice, demolished at the beginning of the twentieth century.
