The sketch depicts the view looking south-west towards the Pincian Hill from a point near the gardens of the Villa Borghese. Along the horizon on the left can be seen the Villa Medici and distant St Peter’s. The building visible in the foreground on the right is the Casino di Raffaello, see folio 44 verso (D16233; Turner Bequest CLXXXVIIII 43a). A similar view can be found on folio 44 (D16232; Turner Bequest CLXXXVIII 43).
