Stamped in brown ink with Turner Bequest monogram towards bottom right
Inscribed in red ink ‘XXXI B’ bottom right
Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
The cusped motif is traced from one of a frieze of similar motifs, apparently offset from another surface. There is also a slight sketch of a face in profile, apparently by an amateur hand and inverted relative to the prominent ‘67’.
The recto is D00844 (Turner Bequest XXXI B).
