The handling of the washes is less assured here than in folio 52 recto (D36465), which is one of the most accomplished of the series; but it is nevertheless fairly certainly the work of Turner. The style of the pencil drawing is unusually clearly seen in the uncoloured spray of foliage at lower right, which reveals the characteristic mannerisms of Thomas Girtin.
