Not mentioned in Finberg’s 1909 Turner Bequest catalogue,1 this slight sketch shows a two-masted boat with sails set, seen from above as though from the top of a cliff. The boat is very likely the same as that shown in a gorge on the recto of this sheet (D00390; Turner Bequest XIII P).
