This is the right half of a double-page spread recording a view of York from the east-north-east, continued to the right from folio 23 verso (D10911), opposite. Taken from the right bank of the River Foss where it curves round to Layerthorpe Bridge, it includes, from left to right across the spread: Layerthorpe Bridge (with a detail of the continuation of the bridge causeway above); the tower of St Denys, Walmgate in the left distance over the bridge; Layerthorpe Postern; the Church of St Cuthbert, Peasholme Green; the distant spire of St Mary’s, Castlegate; the River Foss in the foreground; and York Minster and Chapter House to right with Monkbar below the crossing tower.
