i. (main sketch) La Prieure, Chamonix, looking down the valley with Mont Blanc and the Glacier des Bossons behind. Turner recorded the same subject in a watercolour study (Tate D36226; Turner Bequest CCCLXIV 364).
ii. (below, right) A tiny thumbnail sketch of the same from a more distant viewpoint.
