Drawn inverted in relation to the main numbered sequence of subjects in this sketchbook, this sketch records La Prieure at Chamonix, looking up the Arve Valley to the Glacier du Bois and the source of the River Arveyron. Turner sketched the same material from further up the valley in Tate D34287; Turner Bequest CCCXLII 83, and from above Chamonix in a preceding sketch in the present sketchbook (D29082; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 26).
