Drawn inverted in relation to the main sequence of subjects in the sketchbook, this drawing depicts Lausanne from the east, from a viewpoint slightly further left, lower and nearer to the citadel than its counterpart on the opposite page (D29127). A similar view, with less detail, is recorded on a subsequent page (D29153; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 62a).
