Looking up the Val d’Aosta towards Introd this sketch includes the ?Roman tower, now demolished, above Villeneuve seen elsewhere in this sketchbook (D29364 and D29372; Turner Bequest CCXCIV 83 and 87). As previously noted (see catalogue entries), only foundations of this structure survive today.
