Falling between sketches made in and around Farnley Hall, the North Yorkshire home of Turner’s friend and patron Walter Fawkes (see the sketchbook’s Introduction), this and the studies on folio 80 verso opposite and the verso of the present leaf (D09780, D09782; CXXXIII 79a, 80a) are likely to have been made in the vicinity.
