As set out under folio 7 verso (D12134), there are nearly thirty pages of cloud studies in this sketchbook, some, as here, being annotated with colours and other observations. This page was evidently already half torn away when Turner began a double-page sketch, inverted relative to the foliation, which continues conventionally across folio 72 recto opposite (D12226; CLIV a 71) but also to the right across the right-hand half of folio 70 verso (D12224; CLIV a 69a).
