With the page turned horizontally, this view among wooded hills with a tower on the left currently remains unidentified, but may show a scene on or near the River Yealm, south-east of Plymouth. A nearby sketch (folio 47 recto; D09268) is annotated with the name of the river, while folio 53 recto (D09275) and subsequent pages show the Wembury area, near the mouth of the river. The subjects as far as folio 127 recto (D09358) are all identified or presumed sites within a few miles in and around Plymouth, suggesting a series of fairly short excursions.
