With the page turned horizontally, this is a slighter version of the view south London from the new Highgate Archway shown on folio 128 verso (D09360; Turner Bequest CXXXI 128a). The upper arches of the bridge carrying Hornsey Lane towards Highgate on the right are barely indicated in the present view.
The drawings between here and folio 227 verso (D09380; Turner Bequest CXXXI 138a) are all identified or likely Highgate views; they were probably made working in from the back of the book as now foliated. The subject is discussed under D09360, which is apparently incorrectly isolated from the rest of the sequence by a block of blank leaves.
