Folio 251 Verso:
Blank
D09427
Turner Bequest CXXXI 162
Inscribed by John Ruskin in blue ink ‘162’ bottom left, upside down, and ‘6’ top left, upside down
Inscribed in blue pencil ‘208’ centre, descending vertically

Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Technical notes:
Finberg’s 1909 numbering implies that this page should be the recto of the leaf; instead, the drawing of a ‘River with bridge in foreground’ which he numbers ‘162a’ is now bound as the recto (D09428), albeit stamped ‘CXXXI – 162’. The ‘162’ inscribed on the present page would then be aligned with the sequence on the rectos of other pages. See the entry for D09428 for further discussion.
