Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
As part of unpublished Turner research informed by local knowledge, Dr Bernard Richards1 has suggested that the view here is north-east from Dudley Castle towards Wednesbury, although much later development complicates any matching the rather slight features indicated by Turner to the modern prospect.
