Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, within the dark recesses of a curtained bed the pale, rounded forms on the right appear to indicate a reclining figure or figures.

Technical notes:
The unaccessioned, blank recto is numbered in red ink ‘30’ and stamped ‘CCXCI(c) – *30; it bears very slight watercolour offsetting from folio 29 verso (D28920)
