Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, the setting is a curtained bed. The rounded outlines towards the bottom right are difficult to interpret, but may hint at the torso of a figure seated or sprawled beside the bed.

Technical notes:
The unaccessioned, blank recto is numbered in red ink ‘31’ and stamped ‘CCXCI(c) – 31’. There is a slight nick or fault to the outer edge of the leaf
