The subject is drawn with the page turned horizontally. This is one of seven studies of Harewood Castle in this book; see under folio 71 recto (D00976; Turner Bequest XXXIV 67). A finished watercolour1 made for a member of the Lascelles family and still at Harewood is based on this drawing.
