Rendered in fine and agile line Turner depicts Dinant from a south-westerly perspective. A boat with a long and shallow hull is in the foreground; this is possibly the ferryboat seen crossing from one bank of the Meuse to the other in a previous folio (Tate D28160; Turner Bequest CCLXXXVII 63 a)
