Here Turner has produced a very rough and swiftly rendered sketch of the profile of Metz Cathedral and a bridge traversing the Moselle at the left.
The drawing of Metz Cathedral on the opposite folio (Tate D28233; Turner Bequest CCLXXXVIII 35) is continued onto this page, running parallel to the gutter of the sketchbook.
