In this drawing Turner shows the picturesque village of Iffley, which lies a few miles outside of the city of Oxford. An array of cottages, buildings and a watermill fill the foreground, interspersed with tall trees rendered in loose scalloped line. At right is the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, an original Norman construction dating back to 1170.1 Small jottings of what appear to be architectural detail have been drawn above the church tower.
