Inverted in relation to the sketchbook as foliated, the drawing at the centre of this page appears to depict the Abbey Church of Sainte-Honorine at Graville. The precincts of this monastic foundation are located amongst the hills between Le Havre and Montivillier, both the subject of considerable study in this volume. For a comparison, see the engraving of the abbey after Turner’s design in the 1834 volume of Turner’s Annual Tour: Wanderings by the Loire and Seine (1833–5; later reissued as Rivers of France); see Tate impression T04700.
