The model here is the same as in the preceding drawing, on folio 3 recto (D01819; Turner Bequest XLIII 3a), but seen from a slightly different position. This is one of a sequence of life studies between folios 1 recto and 14 recto (D01816–D01826, D01828, D01829; Turner Bequest XLIII 2, 3, 3a, 4–7, 1, 8–10, 12, 13).
