This study, made with the page turned horizontally, was used as the basis for an untraced watercolour of about 1802, Eton from the Slough Road,1 engraved in 1803 for William Byrne’s Britannia Depicta (Tate impression: T05941). D02213 (Turner Bequest XLVII 36) is another drawing of the school, from slightly farther off on the Slough Road.
