Here Turner pictures a house situated at the foot of hills in the Meuse valley; logs are piled high in the grounds at left. The land between Liège, Huy and Namur is lush with woods and forests to this day, so it may be that the artist shows logs felled from this particular territory (see also Tate D19606; Turner Bequest CCXVI 28).
