Inverted in relation to the sketchbook as foliated, this sketch records the south-easterly view from the suburb of Sainte-Adresse towards Le Havre and the Seine estuary. The coastline can be seen running south-east from the bottom right-hand corner of the page to the centre left-hand side. A nearby view was sketched onto folio 45 recto (D23603; Turner Bequest CCLII 45).
