Turner worked multiple studies of riverside scenes down the length of this page. The arched bridge featured in each was located at the settlement of Charenton-le-Pont, some four miles south-east of central Paris. Drawings of this neighbourhood recur on several pages in this volume, a list of which is included in the sketchbook Introduction.
