With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with views of wooded hillsides punctuated by buildings. The roofline of a small town or palace is included towards the top right-hand corner of the page. Although the scenery is too generic to identify the location definitively, this volume contains multiple views of the countryside in the Île-de-France region around Paris as outlined in the sketchbook Introduction.
