Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, the subject is continued on folio 70 recto opposite (D05039; Turner Bequest LXXXI 137). It is a study for the painting The Shipwreck of 1805 (Tate N00476),1 and is closely related to that on folios 67 verso–68 recto (D05034–D05035; Turner Bequest LXXXI 132–133); for other studies in this book, see under folio 1 verso (D04903; Turner Bequest LXXXI 2).
