The location of this subject, inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, is conjectured on the basis of the drawings on the following pages, folios 73 recto–79 recto (D02725–D02737), all of which seem to show Fast Castle, the first Turner encountered on the coastal road to Edinburgh within the Scottish border, between St Abb’s Head and Cockburnspath. It does not seem to be the case that the drawing opposite (D02725) is a continuation of this one.
