These are sketches of the Suffolk town of Aldeburgh. The principal drawing is continued from Tate D18270; Turner Bequest CCIX 58; here Turner depicts Aldeburgh with its Church of St Peter and St Paul at centre. These sketches and those on Tate D18266–D18269, D18272; Turner Bequest 56–57, 59a were developed into a highly finished watercolour drawing of Aldeburgh of around 1826. The design was produced for the England and Wales series and engraved in 1827.
