The cliffs in the main view, where buildings are clustered near the edge, are continued on folio 8 recto opposite (D35501). With the page turned vertically, at the outer edge is a harbour view, with sailing boats off a lighthouse under a low sun. Neither location is as yet identified. See the sketchbook’s Introduction for the many slight coastal and shipping views scattered through it.
Technical notes:
There is some brown staining at the gutter, possibly indicating water damage in the 1928 Tate flood.
