Continues on folio 18 recto opposite (D35520), this drawing shows houses above boats drawn up on a steep beach. The setting is presumably a Channel coastline, and there is a similar view on folio 16 verso (D35517). At the bottom right is a slight continuation of a separate, inverted coastal view on the opposite page. See the sketchbook’s Introduction for the many slight coastal views scattered through it.
