Turner filled this page with a view of the medieval city of Angers, located on the River Maine close to its confluence with the Loire. A note at the bottom of the page identifies the scene as the Place St-Croix; the spire rising in the background belong to the gothic cathedral. Turner made extensive study of Angers in this volume. A list of his drawings of the city is provided in the sketchbook introduction.
