Turner filled the upper half of this page with studies of figures in the local dress of Normandy.1 The lower half features the tower of the Church of Saint-Etienne-le-Vieux in Caen. The artist filled several pages of the present volume with studies of this Normandy town, a list of which is included in the sketchbook introduction.
