The Centre National d'Art et de Culture Georges Pompidou, Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris owns a life-size oil painting possibly of the same model and in a pose which is very similar from the waist downwards, but with the hands raised adjusting the hair (one lock of which is hanging down). It is painted in a restrained range of reddish browns similar to the colours in the drawing. However her feet are placed wider apart, and she is more fully figured and perhaps older.
There are altogether more than fifty drawings of nude models in pastel on red-brown paper dating from the period 1914-18 approximately. This drawing and T01595
are two of the most complete. Three of these drawings are dated 1914, 1916 or 1917, but the rest are undated.
[All the drawings by Julio González given to the Tate are authenticated on the back by his daughter Roberta González and inscribed with a title and date, or approximate date. The titles are used in the catalogue entries, but the dating has been made more precise wherever possible. (Julio González's drawings are usually dated from about 1934 onwards, but the great majority of the early drawings are undated).]
